2026 Joint Meeting of the European Society for the History of Science (ESHS) and History of Science Society (HSS)
The Commission is pleased to announce the forthcoming ESHS/HSS Joint Conference, scheduled to take place in Edinburgh in July 2026, on the theme Shifting Perspectives: Plural Worlds, Contested Sciences.
The Submission portal is now open. Proposals on any topic in the history of science, technology, and medicine are welcome. The conference aims to foster an ensemble of contributions reflecting diverse geographical, thematic, and methodological perspectives.
We especially encourage members of our community –and scholars working on women and gender in the history of science, technology, and medicine – to submit session and symposium proposals on these subjects and to widely share the call for papers.
The Commission on Women and Gender in the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine offers funding support for early-career scholars whose accepted contributions lack institutional funding.
